Wake up and live

By Steve Penny

Awake Deborah awake – arise Barak arise. These two statements are possibly the most powerful you will ever hear.
It is our responsibility to awaken our spirit to God on a daily basis. It is possible to wake up physically and yet stay asleep spiritually.
The activity of praise and worship awakens the spirit to the presence of God.
The activity of Bible study awakens the spirit to the plans of God.
The activity of prayer awakens the spirit to the purposes of God.
It is essential to awaken your spirit because you cannot arise in faith until your spirit is awake to God.
It is quite sad to watch some people go through life as professing Christians and yet be asleep to most of the things God wants to do in and through their lives.
To maintain an awakened spirit try the following for seven days.
1. Find a place to meet with God
2. Set a time for spiritual awakening
3. Start by worshipping God for ten minutes.
4. Then give ten minutes to read a couple of Psalms until you find a hot scripture for you.
5. Then give the next ten minutes to praying the purposes of God into your family and world.
Now arise in faith with the intent to see God at work in and through your life throughout the day.
If you can – stop for another mini break during the day and refocus your thoughts on the purposes of God again.
Staying spiritually awake has amazing consequences.
1. It gives you spiritual confidence
2. You can ask God in faith for miracles
3. Your steps are ordered by God and you know it.
4. Your mind has a sharp edge of understanding of what God is doing.
5. You look for tokens for good and not signs of bad.
6. You get on better with other people.
7. You believe you can – because God is with you.
Wake up and get a life.
